Connect2it undoubtedly has one of the largest and most diversified selections of standard spring contact test probe selections in the world today. Even so, everyday we find that someone needs something which is specifically tailored to the requirements of their application. It is and always has been our goal to find solutions and provide custom products, which exactly meet our customer's requirements. Over the years we have provided many custom spring contact test probes. Some have been completely customized and others have been derived from an existing product, whichever solution the customer chooses satisfaction is guaranteed.
If you are unable to find a product that meets your requirement and are considering purchasing a custom probe from Connect2it what should you do?
At this stage it may be useful to go through our checklist below:
- What is your probe application?
- What will the probe be contacting? . . . a pad. . . a ball. . . a lead. . . a terminal. . . etc.
- What pitch center-to-center spacing are you testing on?
- Did you find a standard Connect2it probe that is close to your requirement?
- If yes, which probe series and part number was it?
- What is the required overall length of the probe?
- What plunger tip design would you like?
- How much compliance do you require? (Distance the plunger is able to travel)
- How much spring force do you need?
- At max travel?
- At operating position?
- What current will be used?
- Will there be any specific environmental or temperature requirements?
- Will the probe be used at high frequency?
- Are there any other electrical characteristics to be considered? Such as impedance, inductance or capacitance?
- What are the plating requirements?
- How many cycles will this product be expected to handle over the term of its life?
When dealing with custom products the cost is usually directly relational to the quantity and complexity of the probe. Therefore the cost for ten probes would appear expensive, whereas for quantities of one thousand or greater may be closer to the price paid for standard products. For us to be able to provide a accurate quotation for a custom probe we would need to have the following information:
- Initial quantity?
- Production quantity?
- Price idea, how much have you budgeted for this product?
- Delivery, how soon following the order would you like to receive the initial quantity?
